Taking Action on Cyber Threats – Athlone Businesses Step Up
On June 6th, the Midlands ICT Network brought its cybersecurity roadshow to Athlone, with a packed session hosted at the Radisson Blu Hotel. The event featured expert speakers including Detective Fran Hoban, National Cyber Security Centre representatives, and INET Computer Solutions, who offered guidance tailored to SMEs.
The focus was practical—how to spot risks, how to respond, and what businesses can do to avoid common mistakes. Turnout was strong, and attendees appreciated the direct, jargon-free approach. There was a strong sense that Midlands businesses are now taking cybersecurity more seriously.
The networking that followed included productive conversations between speakers, tech firms, and local enterprises. More than a few attendees mentioned taking immediate follow-up steps, including security audits and staff training.
