Ghost Stories First. Gadgets Last.

A locally viewable intelligence-style report on Irish haunting and poltergeist leads, ranked by witness value, contactability, corroboration, and contamination risk. This is not a “proof of ghosts” page; it is a triage tool for finding stories worth following up.

How I Scored “Truth”

The score is not “probability that a dead person is present.” It is the probability that there is a real, follow-up-worthy human experience behind the story.

Witness quality

Named, first-hand, ordinary witnesses score higher than anonymous ghost-night attendees or promotional copy.

Independence

Multiple witnesses, separate reports, staff histories, or visitor books score higher than a single viral photo.

Contactability

Named presenters, authors, venues, staff, archives, and public groups are practical leads.

Contamination penalty

Tourism, TV, ghost apps, spirit boxes, or heavy folklore branding reduce confidence unless first-hand testimony is still reachable.

Best Follow-Up Ranking

Initial Conclusion

This page uses a source-first approach. The strongest current source cluster is Leinster Paranormal's own Carlow Gaol / Shopping Centre archive, backed by Spirited Isle, The History Press county books, YouTube source trails, radio links, newspaper archives, and library routes.

Current Research State

Best source found so far

Leinster Paranormal's author archive is currently the strongest group-first source because it has dated posts, repeated investigation material, audio/visual pages, and direct overlap with Carlow Shopping Centre / former Carlow Gaol.

All Leads Displayed Below

The cards below are the current scored working set, ranked from highest follow-up score downward. Each card shows why the lead is worth pursuing, what to request next, and where the source trail starts.

Group-First Findings

Leinster Paranormal archive: author Cormac

Primary group source with dated posts by Cormac. Found posts include Another Scary Night in Carlow Gaol, Is Carlow Shopping Centre Haunted?, Phantom Sounds in Carlow Shopping Centre, private-case audio archive, and Haunted Laois camera movement.

Leinster Paranormal audio page

The EVPs page says many investigations are residential/private, so the site anonymises cases. It mentions The Old Woman story for Haunted Carlow, downstairs locked-room recordings, Carlow Shopping Centre visits between March and June 2014, café sounds, door-slam/heavy-fall sounds, and recordings where investigators are audible.

Leinster Paranormal visual page

The Visual page repeats the Haunted Laois camera-movement clip and the locked supermarket sound clip, providing a linked index for original video/audio follow-up.

Leinster Paranormal about page

The About Us page frames the group around unexplained sounds, voices/name-calling and shaking cameras. This is a useful group profile because it shows their focus before mining each case.

Archive and oral-history routes

Linked routes for staff and local testimony include Dúchas, National Library of Ireland, Libraries Ireland, RTÉ Archives, and Irish Newspaper Archive.

Group Evidence Inventory: Audio / Visual

Leinster Paranormal EVPs: SoundCloud embeds

The EVPs page embeds multiple SoundCloud tracks: 155208746, 155208743, 155208742, 155208741, 155208755, 155210052, 155208754, 155208753, 155208756, 155208752, and 155208751. Several include secret tokens, so they should be reviewed from the embedded page rather than assumed public standalone tracks.

Leinster Paranormal direct MP3s

Direct files discovered from the EVP page include laugh.mp3 and CarlowShoppingCentreDoorSlam.mp3. These need local archiving, waveform review, and environmental notes before being treated as evidence.

Leinster Paranormal visual embeds

The Visual page embeds YouTube videos 36rft2T-7U4, x2oQ2fVe8dc, and 8FNFon5kHkQ, plus the channel link LP Ireland / Leinster Paranormal.

PSII / Paranormal Supernatural Investigations Ireland

Linked public trail: Kinnitty Castle overview and official hotel site. The public-investigation angle is still worth keeping, but the better citation path is the venue itself rather than repeat tabloid framing.

Ghost Searchers Ireland / Caron GSI

YouTube lead found: Ducketts Grove Ireland Ghost Searchers Ireland. Treat as a group/video lead until the channel and any related write-up are mined.

Paranormal Resident

YouTube leads found: The Haunted Knocktopher Tower Kilkenny Ireland Paranormal Investigation and Tyrone House Galway. Note: Tyrone House is Galway, not County Tyrone.

Operation Ghost Hunt

YouTube leads found for Tyrone House, Galway: Operation Ghost Hunt - Tyrone House, Tyrone House Tunnel, and Operation Ghost Hunt: Tyrone House.

Irish Paranormal Teams Directory

This is a source-first directory of Irish and Ireland-focused paranormal teams/channels discovered so far. It is intentionally broader than the scored story list: some entries are confirmed Irish teams, some are Northern Ireland teams, some are Irish-connected YouTube channels, and some are visiting teams with useful Irish-location footage. Priority should go to the groups with original case files, witness access, dated posts, audio/video archives, or repeat visits to the same location.

Leinster Paranormal / LP Ireland

Top priority. Primary archive with dated posts, EVPs, visual evidence, Carlow Shopping Centre / former Carlow Gaol material, private residential audio, and Haunted Laois camera-movement material. Start with author archive, EVPs, visual evidence, and LP Ireland channel.

Paranormal Supernatural Investigations Ireland / PSII

Galway-based team trail with Kinnitty Castle public-investigation reports. Linked sources: Kinnitty Castle overview and official hotel site. Keep the team trail, but avoid repeating the same tabloid citation in multiple places.

Irish team-name lead from direct YouTube search. Start with Paranormal Investigation // Soul 2 Soul Paranormal Team Ireland. Needs channel/social lookup, case list and member/contact verification.

NorthWest Paranormal Research

Northern Ireland Greatest Haunts-related channel/team lead. Start with Woburn House and Prehen House. Needs distinction between production channel, investigation team and original source archive.

Haunted Hearsay

Donegal case lead with poltergeist framing. Start with Ballymacool Estate, Letterkenny, Donegal. Needs local-history follow-up and any original witness trail.

Ireland-location lead for the Hellfire Club. Start with Hellfire Club Paranormal Investigation Video Ireland. Needs Irish-team status check and extraction of witness/source claims.

Visiting/investigation channel with Irish locations. Leads include Wicklow Historic Gaol and Hellfire Club at night. Lower priority than Irish-owned groups, but useful for location bibliography and video evidence comparison.

Duality Paranormal

Belfast investigation lead. Start with abandoned mansion Belfast investigation. Needs Irish/NI team status check and location verification.

Haunted Horizons

Visiting/UK investigation source with Irish locations. Leads include Belfast Prison and Cork City Gaol. Use for comparison and location research, not as primary Irish witness evidence.

Haunted Earth TV / Chris Halton

External/visiting source with Irish gaol EVP footage. Start with Crumlin Road Gaol EVP, Part Two. Useful for Belfast/Crumlin Road coverage and comparison with other teams.

Paranormal Origins

Belfast-location lead. Start with Titanic Belfast Dry Dock Paranormal Investigation. Needs channel/team status check and source separation.

Barry Fitzgerald / Ghost Hunters International Irish trail

Irish paranormal investigator from Lisburn, Northern Ireland, best known through Ghost Hunters International. Linked source routes: Barry Fitzgerald overview and Ghost Hunters International episode list.

Northern Ireland's Greatest Haunts archive trail

Source-First Inventory

The History Press: Haunted Carlow

Publication date 01/06/2011, ISBN 9781845886974. The publisher description explicitly mentions Brown Street, the White Lady, Carlow students sharing a house with an entity, poltergeists, phantom voices, ghostly nannies and white ladies. This should have been a primary source. Publisher page

The History Press: Haunted Kilkenny

Publication date 01/09/2012, ISBN 9781845887483; ebook ISBN 9780752487076. The publisher describes modern poltergeists in housing estates, phantom voices, ghostly nannies, white ladies and banshees as freshly discovered Kilkenny stories. Publisher page

The History Press: Haunted Tyrone

Publication date 01/09/2014, ISBN 9781845888459; ebook ISBN 9780750961158. The page mentions poltergeist farms, a lady haunting a locked room in Knocknamoe Castle Hotel in Omagh, the ghost of Philly’s Phinest, and a haunted bed. Publisher page

Leap Castle

Linked sources: Leap Castle overview, official site, and the castle's paranormal-investigator trail noted in the linked overview.

Clontarf Castle

Linked sources: Clontarf Castle overview and official site. The venue itself is the better citation path for current follow-up.

Ballygally Castle

Linked sources: Ballygally Castle overview. The castle/hotel itself and the historical record are the cleaner citation path here.

The Legend Seekers Web TV

Linked sources: channel, Legend Seekers Lockdown Ep 1 - Island of the Dead (Saints Island, Donegal), The Legend Seekers Lockdown Ep 2 - The Forest of Lights, and Ep3 Cave of the Cats. This is the clearest public trail for the Legend Seekers duo series.

Dublin Castle

Linked sources: Dublin Castle overview and official site. Useful as a Dublin county-history anchor and a place to mine for stories around the Castle, the State Apartments and the Bloody Sunday / 1916 history trail.

Howth Castle / Grace O'Malley

Linked sources: Howth Castle overview and Grace O'Malley overview. Useful as a north Dublin legend route because the Howth legend trail is tied to Grace O'Malley's reported visit and the castle's family history.

Puck's Castle

Linked sources: Puck's Castle overview. Useful for Dublin outskirts and local-legend mining.

Ardfry House

Linked sources: Ardfry House overview, An Taisce entry, and National Built Heritage Service entry. Useful Galway story hook because the legend trail includes a reported ghost of a young woman near the shore and a drowned-guest story.

Dunsany Castle

Linked sources: Dunsany Castle overview and official site. The linked overview notes a reputedly haunted bedroom, making it a practical Meath follow-up lead.

Dunluce Castle

Linked sources: Dunluce Castle overview and Irish Daily Star feature. Useful as an Antrim story route because the castle's hauntings and legends sit alongside its steep-cliff history and tourism profile.

2025 haunted castles roundup

Linked source trail: Cabra Castle, Clontarf Castle, Ballygally Castle, Charleville Castle, Ross Castle, Kinnitty Castle, and Kilkea Castle. Use these named-venue pages instead of repeating one low-value roundup reference.

Aughnanure Castle

Linked sources: Aughnanure Castle overview. Useful Galway county anchor for local-history and repeat-visitor story mining.

Menlo Castle

Linked sources: Menlo Castle overview and Galway Tourism page. Strong Galway ruin/folk-memory source with a documented fire and long ruin history.

Carrigaphooca Castle

Linked sources: Carrigaphooca Castle overview and the OPW-maintained castle entry in the linked overview. Useful Cork county anchor for spook-tale and stone-circle-adjacent local history.

Podcast radar: deeper cuts

Expanded routes: Unexplained, Knifepoint Horror, The NoSleep Podcast, Let's Not Meet, Let's Get Haunted, The White Vault, and Old Gods of Appalachia. These are better for rare witness language, listener submissions, and motif-mining than for pure tourist-led haunting copy.

Podcast mining route

Use Spotify and Apple charts to find the shows with listener-submitted ghost stories, then search each episode title for place names, hospitals, schools, hotels, and family names. That is how the rare Irish leads surface.

Podcast Mining Routes

Spotify / Apple shortlist

Practical starting point: Uncanny, The Battersea Poltergeist, Unexplained, Fortean News Podcast, The NoSleep Podcast, and Let's Get Haunted. Use them to spot under-reported places, names, and witness phrases rather than to copy the episode subjects wholesale.

Irish chart watcher

Search the Irish Apple / Spotify charts for locally popular shows, then cross-check them for ghost, UFO, uncanny, folklore and witness language. The point is to find shows where ordinary Irish listeners already submit strange experiences.

Listener-story pipeline

Best pattern: podcasts that read listener submissions, because those often surface smaller venues, private homes, school corridors, care homes, and odd regional stories that never make it into mainstream articles.

UFO / high-strangeness branch

Use Fortean News Podcast plus Irish sky-light reports and meteorological confirmations to separate real unexplained reports from satellites, rockets, and atmospheric effects.

Rare Non-Castle Trails

St. Michan's Church, Dublin

St. Michan's is a rare church trail with mummified remains, crypt damage and a long uncanny reputation. It is one of the better Dublin leads because it is not a tourist castle script.

Chapelizod / House by the Churchyard

The House by the Churchyard gives a specific house and street route in Chapelizod. It is a better home-based follow-up than another castle because the building is a named urban address.

Letterfrack Industrial School

Letterfrack and Founded on Fear point to one of Ireland's darkest institutional memory trails. It is less a ghost-tour site than a place where witnesses, former residents and families can still be sought.

Our Lady's Hospital, Cork

Our Lady's Hospital and the recent review of Said the Dead make Cork's asylum history a strong rare trail. The value here is in archived voices and building memory, not in glossy haunting copy.

St Joseph's Industrial School, Glin

Glin is not a ghost story first, but it is a strong haunted-memory route in the west. The institution trail is still better than another over-familiar castle lead.

St Dympna's Hospital, Carlow

St. Dympna's Hospital gives Carlow an asylum-memory route with HSE links and a clear closure/redevelopment history. Useful when you want to move the county board away from just Carlow Shopping Centre and into institutional memory.

St Kevin's Hospital, Cork

St. Kevin's Hospital and Our Lady's Hospital together make a stronger Cork asylum trail than a single isolated building. They also connect to later redevelopment, archives and survivor-memory routes.

St Columba's Hospital, Sligo

St. Columba's Hospital gives Sligo a modern asylum-to-hotel memory route, which is often where the strongest local ghost reports persist: in the staff recollection layer, not the building brand.

St Joseph's Hospital, Limerick

St. Joseph's Hospital and Limerick Archives give Limerick a deep records trail with oral history, minute books and patient record material. That is a much better base than another castle repeat.

Hellfire Club / Montpelier Hill

Montpelier Hill and Hellfire Club remain useful because they combine landscape, ruin, legend and public curiosity. The story value is in the persistence of the site, not in the old moral panic alone.

UAP / Sky Anomalies

2025 bright-light event

Comparison trail: the SpaceX sky-spiral explanation shows how a striking light can turn out to be rocket activity. Use it as a reference point for Irish witness language, then separate the local reports from the physics.

2024 Dublin/UAP report

Comparison trail: SpaceX launch coverage and the same sky-spiral explanation above are better sources for the mechanism than a second tabloid recap. Keep the local eyewitnesses, but anchor the explanation elsewhere.

Clonmacnoise airship

Airship of Clonmacnoise remains the historical Irish UAP anchor because the story is about lights, ships in the sky and evolving witness retellings.

County Book Story Extracts

Carlow: Brown Street / White Lady / student-house entity

Haunted Carlow points to Brown Street, the White Lady, students sharing a house with an entity, poltergeists, phantom voices, and ghostly nannies. These are the specific story hooks to mine next.

Kilkenny: housing-estate poltergeists / phantom voices / ghostly nannies

Haunted Kilkenny explicitly mentions modern poltergeists in housing estates, phantom voices, ghostly nannies, white ladies, and banshees. The book is a direct route into contemporary domestic stories.

Tyrone: Omagh hotel / haunted bed / poltergeist farms

Haunted Tyrone points to poltergeist farms, a lady haunting a locked room in Knocknamoe Castle Hotel in Omagh, the ghost of Philly’s Phinest, and a haunted bed. These are the best named Tyrone hooks currently visible from the book trail.
